My Mom would have been 68 today
My Mom died in '91 at the age of 54 from pancreatic cancer. I was 22 when she died. Today she would have been 68. She missed seeing her beautiful grandchildren and much more. I often wonder what she would think of the woman I've become.

On days like today the pain is still intense, even after 14 years. The hardest part is I've forgotten her voice, and so many memories have faded. Of course the love remains.

She was my Mom and my best friend and I miss her.

1. the love will always remain ...
I too have a hard time remembering my mum's voice. When it's quiet though sometimes I think I hear her calling me, ... strange huh? It's been 8 years since my mum died at age 69.

May the sweetest memories of the love you shared, comfort you today and always.

3. *hugs* Pancreatic cancer is a scourge. I can't believe how many of us
here have lost a loved one to it.

I am sure that your mom would be (and is, since I believe people continue on) amazed at you and your beautiful kids. *hugs*

5. Thank you all for your kind words
It helps to know that others understand my grief. Cancer just sucks, especially pancreatic cancer. I don't know anyone who has survived it.

Anyway, thank you all again for your kindness.

6. I lost my mother in January of '98
Six months ago, I was FINALLY able to watch a tape of our Christmas together from when my child was 3 yrs old. Seeing my mother and hearing her voice was strange, yet comforting. I did just fine with it. It has taken me alot of years to be able to do this, tho.

At first, when I would go through her clothes, the smell of my mother brought me to tears. I would smell her housecoat, and it was like she was with me. I would bury my face in it, loving it, like it was her. Odd, huh.

Now, I just lost my dad on April 12th, 2005. He lives in another state and is remarried. It is more of a detached feeling, but then again, I was the caretaker of my mother for years before she died.

I was closer to my dad than my mother until I got to puberty.
I think that happens with some women.

7. Another damn year has gone by
I can't believe this post is still here. Today my Mom would have been 69. This year I'm sad and angry. It pisses me off when my friends bitch and moan about their "relationship" issues with their Moms. At 37 years old I'm still the only person in my group of friends that has lost a parent. (Not that I'm wishing it on anyone) I know parents can be a pain in the ass, but seriously do I seem like the right person to bitch to?

As I get older I miss her more, doesn't that seem strange? I'm also starting to worry about my own life span. All of the women on my Mom's side have died of cancer. If I were to die at the same age as my Mom I would only have 17 years left. Seventeen years seems like a long time until you really think about it. My youngest daughter is only 6, do the math. CANCER SUCKS!!! I'm not willing myself to die or trying to be negative it's just hard to always keep those thoughts away.

Anyway, I miss my Mom, she really was my best friend. More then anything I wish she could have known my children. Happy Birthday Mom. I'll love you always...

8. Blessings to you on her birthday.
I'm sure she is with you in spirit. It's so sad to lose someone who is so young. All I can offer is a hug, and a shoulder if you need it.
