I hate "the new normal"
"The new normal" sucks. And it still doesn't feel all that normal too me.

1. Me too
It's almost the time, one year ago, when my Dad told me he wasn't feeling well. That was the beginning of the end. So nearly one year later, things feel really $%#&ed up.

 to you and all of us.

3. Its now been 1 1/2 years for me
The new Normal is well, not so new anymore. Today I gave the last of April's clothes to Goodwill. They were summer thing that were stored in the attic and I didn't see them until a few weeks ago.

I didn't even shed a single tear, this time anyway.

Life goes one.

4. Yeah, it does go on. Glad that wasn't one of those
"baseball bat in the gut" moments for you.

I am doing just so much better, and I have big news,

I got remarried a few days ago, we dated about 16 months, and just tied the knot.

Her name is Bridget, and I feel just so right about it.

My kids decided to call her Mom, which is great.

She is a staunch Democrat, as is her entire family.

Her Brother is the Hot Dog vendor in Joe Courtney's 2nd Connecticut Congressional District campaign ad.

Life does indeed go on.

5. The world has become poisoned
Between losing three family members since 1996, a couple of friends dating back to grade school, and the social fallout of 9-11 and recently Katrina, a family friend in Iraq, another family friend in a tornado (fer cryin' out loud!), the world has become progressively more poisoned.

That's the only way I can describe it. It's like I ate something that is poisoning me, and I can't puke it up.

Part may be that I've been ill for a couple years now, too, and the illness kicked in shortly after my job migrated to Asia. Whatever. Everything that happens is "the new normal", and "the old normal" I ultimately want back ended around 1983.

7. Me too
My dad died Dec 25, 2004. We'll be going back east to commemorate the first year with out him.

He was an AVID Democrat, he hated * and couldn't understand how * wasn't swept out of office by a landslide.

He would have loved * poll numbers.

8. I am glad your family is getting together. That's very helpful. Here's
hoping the new year brings trouble to ** that would have delighted your dad. ;)

9. I'm going back East for Christmas too
 My Dad died on Nov.8, 2004 and his sentiments about Bush were the same as your Dad's. He was lucid enough to know who won the election.

I hope you and your family will have a good holiday. Being together on the one year anniversary will help.
