Today is the anniversary of my mother's death.
It also happens to be the anniversary of her birth.

Sometimes it makes me angry that evil people like Dick Cheney are still slithering around on this Earth, but I cannot pick up the phone and talk to my mother anymore.

But then there are other times when I feel her presence so strongly, even while doing something like walking around the grocery store (we used to grocery shop together), and I'll think of something funny that she said or did, and just dissolve into laughter!

Mom was a good Democrat who followed politics and current events very closely. Oh, we would have a lot to talk about these days (she loathed Bushy-boy).

Mom's favorite drink was a dry Manhattan up, with a twist of lemon. I think I will fix one for myself tonight to honor her memory.

1. To the memory of your Mom
I join you in a :toast:

I hope your good memories will keep you smiling Pool Hall Ace.

I agree with you about Cheney. It's almost one year since I lost my Dad and I can't help but think those same thoughts. Cheney and not my Dad. Bush and not my Dad.

2. Oh, thank you livetohike.
I know some people might think it's childish, but I can't help thinking it's just not fair!

A toast to your Dad, also!

3. Your mom passed on her birthday? Wow.. I am so sorry. *hugs* I know
what you mean about the unfairness of the evil people who keep on slithering around when our moms are gone.

Not. Fair!

I dreamed about my mom last night but I can't remember much of it now. Just that it was weird and I wasn't supposed to tell my goddess mother that she was there. (Which is really, REALLY weird because Marilyn would have wanted to know that.)
