I think I'm about to lose my dad |
|
My mom called a couple of hours ago and told me I need to get to him quickly, he was intubated over night. He's been sick all year.
I said it out loud to expedite the plane reservations. "My dad is dying". I've been watching him suffer all year.
My parent's 50th anniversary is in 12 days, this sucks. The Mets might win the World Series. But I don't know if I'll be able to share it with him.
This sucks.
Thanks for listening. DU is my second family.

All my positive thoughts are headed your way for your Dad and family
I lost my Dad on Nov. 8, 2004. I drove across country alone (with my dogs) to be with him. He loved baseball and we watched the World Series from his hospital room.
I hope you will have time to spend with your Dad. Take care of yourself and check in.

I saw him a little while ago and the end is very near. I'm going to get my mom into bed and go back to the hospital.

When I got back to the hospital tonight, the ICU wing was empty of personnel. It didn't take long for me to realize why - they were all trying to restart Dad's heart. 10 minutes later, his suffering was over.
The family has a web site - www.sackheritagegroup.com. We'll post a memorium tomorrow.

Peace for all.
Watch baseball. And talk to your dad while doing it.
Love doesn't perish.

The Mets and Giants both came through for my dad this weekend.
I'm going home tomorrow, satisfied that my mom is ready to be strong on her own.

It's been 2 months and we've been through 3 birthdays, my folks 50th anniversary and Thanksgiving. A lot of firsts in a little time. It gets easier, but its still overwhelming
