I just sent a pissy email to Nashbar.
I called to order some panniers and pedals and the dude who answered the phone was a complete loser dumbass. Here's the angry email I just sent:

"You might want to be more ...um...selective about who takes your phone orders. The guy I just talked to was rude, uncooperative, and had zero knowledge about your products. After I figured out that the guy was an ignoramus (took about a minute), I made a quick order and hung up, because I knew that he was reading from a simple inventory availability program.

OK, fine.. One one hand, I realize that to keep prices down you sometimes need to hire unqualified dumbos to fill simple orders. Fine. That's the reality of doing business. That said, I'd like to be able to talk to an actual cyclist once in a while instead of Joe Duurrr Phonedude. I would have ordered more stuff, but I was a bit disgusted by the treatment I received by your unintelligent call center guy.

Next time, I might pay a little more and call REI."

I wouldn't have been so mad, but I guess I expect bike store people to know a little bit about their products. The dude told me that they were sold out of a particular type of pedal, so I asked him to recommend a similar one that was in stock. His reply was "duuuuuh, what? Do you have a product ID number or something?"

Fucking call centers.....

2. I order from Performance far more frequently than Nashbar....
I've never had any particular bad experiences with Nashbar, and I do order from them occasionally, but I just like Performance better.

4. interesting-- I stll get Nashbar catelogs and they carry some items...
...that Performance apparently doesn't carry, e.g. I think I bought my last Brooks saddle from Nashbar, so they must still operate as seperate entities? I think the last time I ordered from Nashbar was about a year ago.

5. They do operate separately
http://www.performancebike.com

http://www.nashbar.com/

We usually find better sales at Nashbar.
