I have to go to the local Police Tomorrow and see if someone found it, at the same time my bike was stolen, the local Drug Task Force was doing a series of Arrests in my area (none in my building). While None occurred in my area, I would not be surprised if someone did take it for a drug deal and the Police have it (I would not be surprised but I do not think so).
I check around town a little bit if anyone saw it and looked around for possible parts of it to show up (The Leather Seat, the Front generator).
No I have a Phat-City cycle as a back up, it is to small for me but I can use it (My legs do not straighten out all the way while peddling and the seat post is OVER the limit as to height on the Post).
I have to look around to see if someone has it, but one of the places I looked had a used Raleigh fold-able bike for $150 (It is about ten years old, but has a Brooks Leather Seat). Most fordable bikes have extra long seat posts and handlebars. I am looking at it as something to tie me over till I gather the money to buy a new bike.
My local Bike store has a recumbent for $600. In Pittsburgh, West Liberty Bicycles has a Cannondale LARGE Frame touring bike for $1500 (I wonder who ordered it and then back out of buying the bike, it has been they for a few years).
Whatever I do I will have to make changes, I liked my front generator hub and if I opt for the Cannondale I will get another one. If I opt for the Recumbent I will get a sidewall generator. I lean to the Touring bike for I have a lot of hills and recumbents are known not to go as good uphills as conventional bikes. The Cannondale has better components than the recumbent (as you can see in the price difference). On the other hand the recumbent is cheaper and I can hang a bag on the back of the Recumbent's seat.
The real problem I am having is I just paid my Taxes on my building and paid my natural gas bill so it can be turned on for the Winter. I am flat broke for the next two months. Hopefully most of my tenants pay their rent this month so I can save some money to buy a bike, but I will have to see what happens.
