What are your goals/plans for the upcoming season?
I can't wait to get out of the basement and ride!

I didn't do too many events last year because of my schedule, but this year I'm planning to get out there more. And with more weekends off, perhaps I'll add some new events to my itinerary.

I would like to complete at least three century rides by the end of the season. I didn't finish any last year. The one time I had hoped to do it, the conditions weren't right and I was only able to do about 75.

I've been using my trainer all winter so I'm ready to hit the ground rolling. I'm hoping for fewer ozone action days this year as my asthma prevents me from riding in those conditions.

So, what events/rides are you looking forward to?

1. I've got a lot of organized ride events planned for the spring
starting with the Solvang Century this coming w/e. I'll probably only do the Half Century, though, cuz I'm not fully trained for a century.

March 31- Cinderella Classic: annual 100K ride for women only, supported by "Prince Charmings" :D

April 28th- 100K fundraising bikeride for our local school district

May 20- Strawberry Fields Century

I'm back in the saddle, training again, and it feels great, although I'm a bit sore today. Good luck with doing all your centuries. Back in 2000 when I was training for the AIDS Ride, I rode three centuries, over three months. It's quite the accomplishment. :hi:

2. I want to try to make a 42 mile trip up 1020 Feet in elevation
Between Johnstown PA and Ebensburg PA. Johnstown is the largest City in Cambria County Pennsylvania but Ebensburg is the County Seat. The easiest Trail has been blocked off for Decades, and is still blocked off, but way that is a little longer is opening up this spring (The old Southern Cambria Railway line between Mineral Point and South Fork PA, last used in 1928 but under Construction).

The new trail will open up Old Germany Road to be used as a connecting road to Ebensburg. It is a low use old Country road, perfect for biking, through all up hill. I tried to use this about three years ago, but had to go over a Mountain and then back down to get to Old Germany Road. A lot of work that I can now reduce to one Mountain.

The other trip is Johnstown to Pittsburgh. I have to go over Chestnut Ridge via route PA 259 to the Ghost Town Trail to Blairsville and then the West Penn Trail. Then the decision of HOW to get to Pittsburgh. None of them good, so this may last to next year.

3. No "events", but just riding
Flatland pavement for a while, and hope to hit Skyline Drive in VA this summer. It's a nice ride, though it seems there's a lot more uphill than downhill :)
