Some questions about refurbishing a bike.
I have an old Raleigh frame that I love. It came with no gears and coaster brakes. My husband swapped in a three speed set-up that never worked right. I now have a crusier bike htat's OK, but it just isn't the same.
So

1. Is is worthwhile to put on a wheel with gears and either coaster brakes or hand brakes? Where would I find such a thing?

2. What about replacemnet fenders?

1. One would have to "spread" the rear triangle to get a set of gears to fit
The axles are longer. People do that to make a wide triangle wider, but I don't know if it is done with a "single speed" bike.

If you have hills where you ride, you will need something with gears. Hope this helps.
