October KATY Trail Ride

It was an adventure of too many drunks in Hermann, too many boyscouts in Tebbetts, and I felt a flush of relief when we missed the Hartsburg pumpkin fest wherein a four block town hosts thirty thousand people. But the weather was fine, and we met interesting folks.

My old martial arts student and I did a Amtrak/KATY/Amtrak ride.

1. "Still life with beer and passengers"

A lot of drinking occured. Dug 'em all. I understand that the floods have destroyed a lot of the buildings in the river towns and that makes the remaining ones all the more precious. Was SDIM3421 in Hartsburg? It looks like what I recall was the Hartsburg Cycle Depot. It's gorgeous.

2. I was indeed Hartsburg

the cycle depot has moved to Jeff. It looks like some kind of games store, but i saw no signs of activity.

OTOH, the pumpkin fest the week before drew 30K.

The bar was pretty hoppin for a Sunday night.
