My first ride on a Recumbent....
Edited on Tue Jun-21-05 10:51 PM by BiggJawn
I've been building my own 'bent for about 2 years now, and I finally figured out how to get some steering control over the monstrosity.

I climb aboard, give the pedals a back spin to make sure my knees clear the handle bars, then push off. then I make an unscheduled right turn. Then I try to turn left, and go straight. This is starting to remind me of the first time I drove a BMW sidehack rig...

I finally get underway, hopping from side to side over the grass strip down the middle of the alleyway, and by the time I get to the end, I have the beast under control... Next, I walk it across the street and ride it over to my girlfriend's. The chain is rubbing in about 12 places, and my feet can't find a comfy place on the pedals, but I'm moving, and it's actually starting to settle down and feel like a real vehicle instead of one of those "Fractured Flickers" flying machines...

She says "That is one BIZARRE looking bike!"

So I ride it back home and now I will address the chain rub problem and see about hooking up the BRAKES on the damn thing...

A nicer front tyre than that white 20" knobby might be in order, too. Think I'll leave the pink powder-coat rim, though...Matches the rest of the bike...
