So, I finally got a bike...
Keep in mind it had been 18 years or so since I've been on a bike. My last one had streamers on the handlebars.

It's a sturdy-but-not-flashy entry-level Specialized women's hybrid.

Total elapsed time between mounting the bike for the first time and involuntarily dismounting it for the first time: 15 minutes. Sigh.

But, it's a start.

1. Upgrades, Upgrades, Upgrades
Use the bike this summer and than look into upgrades. The most popular upgrades are new seats. If you dislike the one you have on the bike go for a Terry or a Brooks. These are the best seats on the Market Today.

For more on seats:

Harris bicycle Seats selling Brooks Seats:

Here is Brooks Saddles Cite, I do NOT recommend it, takes forever to load, but has a lot of information. My recommend NOT to go to it is based on that is takes to long to load, the Harris site has the Seats in a quicker downloading format:

2. I've heard that Wallingford Bicycle is a good place to buy Brooks saddles.

3. You heard right.
I understand that their return policy is Buy the saddle, ride it for 6 months, and if you still wouldn't give your first-born away before your Brooks, they'll buy it back.

Great place to do business with, I HIGHLY recommend them!

I have 2 Brooks, both with about 260 miles on them, and I wouldn't trade them for any other saddle made, except another Brooks.

I also have a Fujita "Belt" with almost 800 miles on it, it's a nice seat, too.
