1. I pity the fool
who doesn't get out of your way!

That thing is WAY COOL! I just think you need a little padding on that seat. Or is that a Brooks? ;)

3. Ignore my post on the 2nd 3rd ride thread...
I didnt see this.

Ok. First, great job.

Second, you will prolly need something to stiffen that boom, or you will discover that a lot of your power goes into flexing it up and down. Google the Lightning p38 for ideas.

Third. When you get tired of that seat, and it has got to weigh a ton,
look at the designs section of the IHPVA website for some simple tubing /mesh designs that will be more comfy, and a lot lighter.

Fourth. With that short of a wheelbase, I suspect you will need either a bit more rake in the front fork OR reverse the stem to a 'praying hamster' position to add a bit of tiller (which should take some of the twitch out of the steering).

Fifth, your chainline might be altered to use two chains with a third der on the old downtube and give you 3 or so gears in a mid-drive and giving yourself a far bigger gear range.

Lastly, Good job!

4. Thanks!
It'll be easy enough to try the "Praying hamster" posisiton, all I have to do is loosen a clamp and flip the fork. Need a smaller tyre on the front to get a brake on there. I worked with it last night, and I can't even get a sidepull arch to fit over that "My Little Pony Bike" knobby...

I tried 2 chains, with that idler on the BB acting as an intermediate sprocket, and the rear chain kept shucking off to the inside. Obviously a chainline problem of some sort. I'm still researching solutions to that problem. had the same problem with the idler on the top run, but cutting a deeper grove in the skateboard wheel fixed that problem...

The seat does weigh a ton, and it's hard, and it's hot, and the bottom's too big because it pinches my legs when I put them down at a stop.

I'll check the P-38 to see how they handle the boom.

5. I tiny point
for the praying hamster position, I am not suggesting reversing the front fork rake, merely the stem/handlebar position. I do not think you can shorten the wheelbase any by the look of it and keep the bike stable.

But if the fork stays out front, and the handlebars face backward, the little bit of additional tiller stands a good chance of making your low speed handling in particular a bit better.

You might find this site a lot of help, seat wise.

6. Jose' Meiffret ran his fork reversed at 204.7 Km/H...
Of course that was on a wedgie with a 130-T chainwheel, and his memoirs were titled "Mes Rendez-Vous avec la Mort"...

I'll take his word for it.

I was looking at the picture trying to figure out what flipping the fork would accomplis. Now that you explain it, I do remember what "Praying Hamster style" looks like...Yeah, reversing the stem might help.

Thanks for the seat link. I was having touble finding it. Found the coroplast fairing pages OK, though....

7. Dang Jawn that is wild
does the front derailleur work pretty well?

Good call keeping the brakes in back...looks like your center of gravity is far forward

8. It shifts very well
That long of a chain gives me a minimum of chainline issues on the front. It shifts fast and it shifts sure.

I need a brake on the front wheel, but I have nothing that will fit that wheel. I'm not so sure that would be a good idea anyway, because I can just see myself tipping that thing onto its chin at 20+... The rear is barely adaquate at the speeds I'm riding it at now, but I am going to put different pads, like the Kool-Stop "Salmon" pads one it.

Got it to 22 MPH tonight
