Oh, the weather's usually nice enough for an afternoon ride....

EXCEPT....

My GF thinks she OWNS my ass all weekend long, since this is prime "Garden Whimsy" putting-away season for her... I'm amazed I didn't blow a hernia yesterday lifting all that freaking lawn, garden, porch, AND patio furniture and helping her pack it like sardines into the basement until next April...

When we do it all again in REVERSE!

Too stiff and sore and it was threatening storms all day anyway today...

Thank Random Chance tomorrow's a work day, I need the rest.

I'm gonna buy her a book on "Voluntary Simplicity" for Xmas....
7 garden benches with cast-iron legs, and she rags ME for my 12 bikes?

I feel for ya, buddy.

Seriously though, 12 BIKES?!? Jeez...

Hope you get to ride ONE of them soon enough! Good luck with that.

2. The thing that ate my summer
This was the year to remodel the rec room. There are some things that you just cannot turn over to a contractor, so there I was, designing and building gigantic wall cabinets along with doing all the wiring and insulation. The wall was not square and I did not have the best measuring techniques or tools, so the plans fell apart. I was fitting and trimming every damn piece. Then there was the tile floor. I wanted to hire somebody, but instead got roped into days of pouring on solvent and meticulously scraping the glue off the concrete. Laying the ceramic tile was a work out and grouting it was royally f--ked. There is new tile grout that does not get moldy or stained. The instructions were dismal and weasel-worded to obfuscate the product's main defect. There is no way you can grout with that stuff without it cracking and you always have to do the job twice. We thought it was our mistake in getting it too wet. We were obsessive with keeping the product dry, it made the project much longer, but it turned out to not make any difference.

So it was on nearly every weekend, watching morning turn to late afternoon and just knowing we would be too exhausted or short on time to even get in eight miles.

We finished in late September and now I am allowed to ride my bike.
