Control of the mind. The habits of the mind shape the way we relate to the world. It has been observed that

You May Control a Mad Elephant -

You May Shut the Mouth
Of the Bear and the Tiger -

Ride the Lion and Play with the Cobra -

By Alchemy You May Earn Your Livelihood -

You May Wander Through the Universe Incognito -

Make Vassals of the Gods -
Be Forever Youthful

You May Walk on Water and Live in Fire -

But Control of the Mind Is Better
And More Difficult

1. Maybe. But what I learned was that I had no control. I could not
quit.
So I surrendered. I realized I could not beat the cigarettes, that they were more powerful than me, and that set me on the first step to recovery.
