Some Super-Dumb IRA Questions!
I don't even know where to begin to look for answers (besides my credit union, but I don't want to go in totally clueless) about IRAs and other non-taxable savings accounts.

Here's the twist: I'm 40 and have a 20 year life expectancy; it's not real likely I'll see 65. I'm retired and have already collected my (tiny) pension and am on SSD. How can I make some nice, safe conservative savings-type thingies without worrying about taxes and get a modest or better return? Where's a good place to start looking? Any sort of clue badly needed.

1. Here's a few places to look for general-type stuff...
I like H&R Block has some good investment info and calculators: http://investment-center.hrblock.com/

You can also do HowStuffWorks Money Channel: http://money.howstuffworks.com/

2. I like bankrate.com
They have been good to me for a lot of my questions.

They tend to have quick articles that let you link to more info.

Are you looking to pass the contents of the investment on to somebody, or are you looking for something you can save in, and draw from w/o penalty/taxation?

If you want to be able to continue to draw from it, then that will limit your options.

The only ones who are looking to inherit from me are my cats (my Loved One is my legal beneficiary).
