Any thoughts on closed-end bond funds?
http://CEFA.com lists most all different categories. My limited understanding of these vehicles is that in the long run you're better off just investing in stocks. But I'd like to hear from anyone who uses these investment vehicles. I once bought a CEBF with the ticker GVT; but sold it after a while since I didn't really put much money in it. Thanks for your opinions.

1. It depends on your goals, needs, comfort level etc...
That's the case with any investment. Bonds are less likely to enjoy the longterm gains that stocks historically enjoy, so if this is for something like an IRA and you won't be using the money for a while bonds might not be something you want to invest too heavily in.

I'm not terribly familiar with closed-end funds, but reading up on them I'm not sure they carry all that big advanatge over open-ended funds. Maybe they do...I don't know.
