I was browsing the mormons the other night, and actually stumbled across a wedding date for my GGgrandfather's sister, Sarah Smith, who married a Horton.

I had no other information about this wedding, and all the town records prior to about 1881 were destroyed, so where did this date come from? No sources of course, and the films are sealed so only members can view them.

This made me think that the information was probably part of a previously published genealogy on Hortons. So today I looked at the library. Yup, 1876, a published genealogy on the Hortons. Found my guy, and began reading his entry. His Sarah was definitely my gal, as it mentioned her parents.

THEN, my eyes drifted to his brother's entry just under his. James Madison Horton married ELIZABETH Smith. My great great grandfather and his sister Sarah had a sister I had absolutely no record of, she'd never been mentioned in any obituary or anything as next of kin, and her family moved to Seneca County, Ohio. She had 10 kids! I would never have known this woman existed without this hunch!

Now, I'm wondering how many MORE siblings they had in this family that may have left NY! My GGgrandfather headed for Illinois/Wisconsin, and she went to Ohio.

I came to the rude awakening today that I'm NEVER going to finish this book! :cry:
