Great find

I have added 15 generations to to my mothers 6th great grandmothers line (fathers side) (using Family Search for Switzerland) dating to 904 in Canton Glarus Switzerland. The last 12 generations are just the male linage. 17 generations lived in Switzerland. I have never found this much information at one time.

2. Holy moley!

I dream of getting that far back with my Smiths! Unfortunately, trying to find the right set of Schmidts in Pennsylvania during the late 1700s is like the needle in a haystack scenario.

3. It was an exciting find.

My next oldest line goes back to about. 1586. This ancestor was among the first settlers in Jamestown VA. Four years before the Mayflower.

One branch our family history says we are connected to has been traced to about 1100 but I have not found any proof that we are connected. I still cannot rule it out. It has been a brick wall for about eight years now. I have three seemingly untraceable leads.

4. That gives me hope

My shortest branch at the moment is my grandmother's Swiss ancestors. They immigrated this century and though I've found some information on Family Search - it was a hard slog hunting down each generation and though I found several I ran out of time to do more. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back to it in January.
