i really like the premise of the site!
...volunteers of this movement have agreed at least once per month to do a research task in their local area as an act of kindness. The cost to you would be reimbursing the volunteer for his expenses in fulfilling your request (video tape, copy fees, etc.). This is not a FREE service.

Successful genealogical research is based upon people helping people. Our volunteers unselfishly provide information available in their area to those who live far away.

We ask that you return to this site after being helped in order to return the favor in YOUR home area to someone else!

I just signed up for Henry, and Des Moines Counties in Iowa. I was a member of a similar site, but haven't received any requests for some time. Maybe they don't exist anymore?

You can also go to your local courthouse, and they'll be happy to take your name, and #. I know my courthouse gets numerous calls for lookups. They are happy to have me, as they don't have time to do it themselves.

2. I used to be a volunteer

But I got too busy with other things and had to quit. If you've got the time, it's a worthy effort.
