Ancestry... is it really slooooow for everyone else, too?

Just wondering if Ancestry's as slow for everyone else as it is for me. It's almost to the point of unusable. I've got ads blocked, because I know they were a problem several months ago, but every time I've tried it over the past couple of months, I've just given up. I've tried several different browsers, etc.

If anyone's able to access the site at what used to be the normal speed (if that makes sense... what it was a couple of years ago is the best way I can describe it), I'd be grateful to know what browser setup you've got, etc.

1. Trouble with the site
I have a roto cuff problem and can't type more than a message or two and I usually dont' go to the blogs much any more. I save my arm for census and vital records. But I like to go to ancestry and just check in my research. It is frustrating that when I finally get on the site crashes. It is the only site that does it. Heritage Quest has census and that does not do it....but it is not as extensive as ancestry, altho Heritage Quest has Rev. War pension files and some other good stuff.

3. You might be able to use it at the library
without subscribing any more. That's what I do. The Milwaukee Library has a subscription, but it's one database you have to use at the library; there's no option to use it from home. They also have some other nice databases with old newspapers. I've just started working through that.

4. Thanks for the info. I'll have to see if our library has a subscription.
BTW, do the remote LDS sites have subscriptions also?

5. I'll have to check
It might not be worth driving to the local library v. a subscription.

Thanks for the idea in any event!

7. Crap!
I was hoping I'd be able to do that from home. Figures. I got an MPL card to be able to access Badgernet, and it figures....nothing I want to access is available. Drat!

6. Something that works for me
Much of the time that I use Ancestry and have clicked on a document to view, or sometimes even just a list of names, it will just seem to stall in the middle of loading. Takes forever etc. Finally, by accident, I clicked on the "stop" in my tool bar, then on the record, or document again and it loads right away. I have no idea why this works, or if the problem is with Ancestry, my browser, (Firefox) or what.

Also, another problem I've had is that when a document(usually a census sheet) is loading, it will sometimes say "done" at the bottom of the page and there is nothing showing. If I hit refresh, it will reload and be visible. It can be pretty frustrating, but I guess the availability of so many records is worth it.
