Found while looking through old newspaper microfilm. All parties involved are either long gone or well over 100 years old.

Sues to Recover Gold Found on Farm.

Appleton Wis, May 2

While plowing his farm near New London Louis Hoffman unearthed a pot of gold said to be valued at $30,000. Hoffman had just purchased the farm from Mrs. John Schmali and today she started suit to recover the gold, saying she only sold the farm.

GETS FIRST BATH IN 30 YEARS

Tramp Objects So Strenuously That He is Promised Many More.

Marysville, O - The first of a series of tortures for James Hines, a hobo, began at the county jail the other day when he was given a bath. Not since childhood has Hines known the watery embrace of a tub, and he fought furiously when Sheriff Belenbaum and his assistants arrived with soap and towels.

Hines was arrested for breaking into a schoolhouse and was sentenced to 30 days. It was apparent that Hines had not known the efficacy of soapsuds for a very long time and when the sheriff asked him how he would like to scrub his cuticule the tramps said that he had constitutional objections. For something like 30 years he had gone unwashed.

Shouting with rage, Hines was immersed and while two men held him a third applied a stiff brush.

The prisoner was informed that he will be given a bath ever 24 hours for 10 days.

Reading old newspapers can be so much fun. :D

1. LOL! Some old newspapers are terribly interesting.
I hate to dig into them because I get lost in the strangely curious articles and advertisements, completely forgetting my original purpose. Time at the genealogical library is so short as it is.

2. I'm the same.
I have found some hysterical stuff.

Some of it I copy just so reprehensor can see it when I get home, because he laughs his butt off when I show him.
