1. I could use some help with a brick wall I've hit

On the Patterson line. Here's the last three I have:

Edmund Halton Patterson, 28 Nov 1886 - 05 Aug 1966
son of
Andrew B Patterson, 12 Sep 1854 - 30 Sep 1921
son of
John Presley Patterson.

We think John Patterson was born in 1817 in South Carolina. We know he died 25 Jan 1878 in Luverne, Crenshaw County, Alabama.

Any more info on Andrew or John would be greatly appreciated. I would imagine he fought in the Civil War, but I couldn't find any records when Footnote had their free month of Civil War documents.

Is any of the other info new to you?
I've got birth dates for John ranging from 1815 to 1822, most in SC, but also AL. Comfort Anne was from AL, so I'm going with SC, and the birth range between 1815-20.
I might still get lucky. :)

6. Reviewing the 1850 Census for Butler Co, AL

Where John Presley is newly-wed to Comfort (they don't have any children listed), there is a William Patterson (or Peterson) who is also from South Carolina and is the right age range to be John P's father. Of course, this is not proof, but may be a person to start with. Here is the info:

9. New Harmony Baptist Church and Cemetary

If you can get ahold of the church record, you could probably learn more.
I played around in SC records for awhile, there are alot of Pattersons!
