Hey China_cat, you up for a photo fix?
Here is one I recently got from my cousin up in Wisconsin.

I'd like to surprise her with a fixed copy on nice photo paper so she can put the old one in archival storage and not have to risk injuring it again, since it's in pieces.

Her grandmother Marcia is the one on the far right in the front row.

1. Sorry for taking so long, I just saw this.

Can you send me a larger scan of it? 300 dpi or better and at least 1200 pixels on the width. This small is not going to fix so easily.

You can email it to katz.china@gmail.com or to chinacat@3harpiesltd.com. I can either send it back to you the same way or put it on my domain for you to download. They print better from the higher resolution.

To give you an idea, I fixed -this- for my aunt

The fix looks better bigger.

2. I'll try.
I asked Pat to send it as tight as she could (she's savvy, but as far as the dpi and stuff, she may not be as hip to that....she's had problems with it before).

I'll see if I can get her to scan and send one more time, larger, and better resolution. I think she may be on vacation at Gettysburg right now.

I'll shoot her an e-mail and see when she gets back to me. It might be a little bit.

Thanks for getting back to me! I didn't PM you because there was no hurry.

:-)
Thanks again!
Fudge

3. Ok, this might help
tell her to open her scan utility and look very carefully for a drop down menu with a lot of numbers on it starting at 72 and going up. When she sees 300, highlight it, that's the one the scanner will use. It will be a VERY large file. Also, a .bmp or .tiff file will be better than .jpg.

I have lots of room for it to come in, but if she's on dial-up, it might take a while to send so if she needs to, tell her to use winzip (or another zip utility) to zip it up to send.

If that's still too much for email, I can designate an upload directory for her to send it directly to my domain.

If all these aren't working, there's a really good alternative. Kinko's has a self-service scanner that you can use and then burn the images to disk. I used this when I was at my sister's and she doesn't have a scanner...and I was not going to be allowed to take the originals home to scan. For scanning 7 images AND the price of the CD to burn it on was $5.45 (with PA's very high sales tax included in that) It automatically scans at a very high resolution.

Then, if necessary, you could always send me the disk.

4. Well, unfortunately, I'm going to have to depend on her for this.

She's in Milton, Wisconsin, and I'm in Texas. :(

When I was traveling, I got to go to her house and see them all, and I tried taking my digital camera with me, to get decent copies of them, but most of them didn't turn out, so I had her scan them.

I was traveling by myself. There was just no way I was going to be able to cart around a scanner in addition to everything else while I was starting to get sick. I just wasn't strong enough. It pissed me off, because I SURE wanted to!

I like finding cousins much closer to me! Reprehensor and I had a wonderful visit with a new cousin over 4th of July who was only 200 something miles down the road, and we took the scanner with us and got everything we needed. MUCH easier that way!

PS- I'll keep that in mind about the Kinko's though. Always good to know for the future. =)

6. Thanks! I really appreciate it!
I'm usually pretty good with Paint Shop and stuff, but I've admired your work on here before, and you do a helluva job!

I knew you could do much better than me!
