1911 Canadian censuses are finally online!
I found these Friday evening, and have been psyched ever since. I knew first and last names for my folks who ended up in Burdett, Alberta, but had very little other information.

Now I have birth dates AND emigration dates!

Here's the link:

Happy searching...

1. I believe you said you managed to trace

some of your ancestors back to the fourteen hundreds or fourteenth century, fsc/Laini. Would you care to tell us about them?

2. Well,

here is one of the best sites I've found for info.

http://www.dallas.net/~mcmanus/fish.htm

The pictures at the bottom are not of my line; my GGG grandfather was William Fish, who was married to Susannah Houser, and they lived in Northampton/Monroe County Pennsylvania. I think "John" on the page is one of my Great grandfathers, but I can't remember how far back. I believe his son Jonathan is where we hook up. All my stuff is at home. I don't have that family memorized like I do my Smiths.

My Fishes didn't do much of note besides farm, but one of the other branches produced Governor Hamilton Fish of New York, and my GG grandma Jane's sister Naomi gave birth to Charles, who became a judge in Lake County, Illinois.

See? Nothing very interesting in my bunch other than the fact that someone has traced the family back so far!

3. Hi, yourself, FSC!

I can't say I buy that, FSC. Being able to trace your ancestors back centuries is a good part of the incentive and the thrill, for as long as your lucky enough for the thread not to have been lost. And it is a bit like fishing. You're always hopeful something'll turn up, aren't you? True, you did say "other than than the fact that someone has traced the family back so far", but I felt it was unduly dismissive, so I'm chiding you!

Also, It's interesting about the governor and the judge - what with with your political passion.

4. Thanks for sharing this
I have cousins in Ontario and Quebec in 1911 and plan to spend some time digging for them in the next week or two in prep for a genealogy trip to the Wisconsin State Historical Society Library.

5. My favorite place in the whole world!
Good luck, sybylla! Wish I could be there with you! But I'll be another few weeks.

6. Ha, turns out my research trip is postponed to November or December
When are you coming to town? Maybe I'll move it to then and we can hook up.

7. I get into town on Nov 5th.
I'll probably be free that first night I get in. The next day I'll be a basket case putting the cousins' lunch together, and the next Saturday I'll be in Wausau.

8. Hmmm. I'll have to think about that.
I have a 2.5 hour drive home so I'm not sure it'll work.

On the other hand, there are probably six DUers within an hour's drive of Wausau, including me. I'm just not sure I'm free on the 12th either. Perhaps a bit of wait and see....

9. OK.
I'm coming into Wausau Friday, so we can negotiate a bit maybe.
