1. Thanks, John, for checking in! You're the first, no surprise!
Thanks for the support and the post! We're always glad to have you on board! And I hope you can get some great info here, about your Irish and Slovene family.

Rhi:hi:

3. No, we did not! We are an equal opportunity group!
We welcome everybody, my friend, and you know this. I'm excited about finding everybody's heritage, not just mine. You know. And I'm hoping that you can find your amazing great great-grandfather, who spoke three languages, since I know it's important to you.:-)

7. That's right, I forgot and I'm sorry.
It was your GREAT-grandfather who spoke three languages, just like my Polish grandfather, who died before I was born. I guess he actually spoke four, if you count English, since he already spoke Polish, Slovak and Russian. And taught children, secretly, because Poland was occupied by the Russians. I just wish I could have met him.*sigh*:-(

9. And you still have your grandfather, right?
My mother's father, the one who spoke all the languages, died young, like my Irish grandfather did, when my mother was only 20 or 21. So I never had a grandfather. And I can pronounce his name, but not spell it. But I had Paul, who I told you about.:-)

11. So what you need to do is ask questions and take notes.
From those who remember. I knew my grandfather's next youngest sister pretty well, since I used to take Nana to visit her, and she knew so much that I wish I'd asked. She outlived my grandfather by 50 years. *sigh* Ask while you can, and write everything down. I wish I did.
