I'm seriously considering PMing Skinner with a compliant at the way we are being treated here...
...and the way the disruptors are being allowed to ruin this board.

It's just getting ridiculous now and if we try to fight back, well you all know what happens.

This just is not right.

1. Remind him that we are paying for this board!

2. I think it would be a good idea ......
if all Hillary supporters on this board signed a letter, petition or whatever and pm' that to him.
I did not contribute my lowly $10.00 because of it.

3. And I don't like all those posts about "boycotting"
whenever I see a post like that, I add that "I am here" even though recently I chose not to spend too much time on DU.

I think that one such post was locked and I think that all should be.

(hint, hint)

4. OK, I'll go public with this. I emailed him 48 hours ago.
Here's a copy of what I sent:

"Message Subject: Family

Dear Skinner,

I'm writing to you personally rather than publicly.

As leader of this group called DU, you are the only one who can minister to the chaos that has erupted. It is like a family that is out of control with all sides bickering, fighting, jabbing at one another. The result is a lot of bitterness, hardened positions and destruction. It has become poisonous.

Whenever a family gets to such a point it is inherent upon the "parents" to step in.

In my opinion the vile atmosphere on DU calls for you to take charge and tell the "children" to get along, respect each other, stop calling names, find things to like about each other, go along to get along, realize that we are more alike than not and to unite for the common good which is to take back our country.

Furthermore, if the "children" don't do as they are told they will be given "time-outs" or some other punishment deemed necessary. There is no justification for what is going on and it is damaging to all in the long run.

Chalco"

I received no response, and he did nothing.

23. Maybe he's tired of this gig, and has activated the self-destruct mechanism?
That's one way to do it, let a buncha yay-hoos trash the joint....and then move on to greener pastures...

That sucking sound might be the contributions of half of his long time members, if this shit keeps up. Then he'll have to sell off the joint--maybe to those assholes at POLITICO??? Bet he could get a chunk a-change for this place.

Of course, not if the crap gets too bad...there's a tipping point to consider.

The number of sockpuppets touting the other candidate is just obscene. They know more about the board after three days and a hundred posts than people who have been here a half decade or more.

Surely the management here has got the ability to check IP addresses. Yet they don't. That sort of tells you how much your input is worth, I guess. The FICTION of unique posters might be more psychically important than the reality of clones and xeroxes....

7. It's a bit disconcerting, I will agree. I've never seen such vitriol here before this contest.
It was 'bad' the last time around, but the mods kept a lid on it.

I wish the admins would run a few IP addresses, and shitcan the sockpuppets. I am less enthused about this place as a consequence. I have no problem with vigorous debate, but the childish nastiness and personal insults are OTT.

considering who they seem to support. You'd probably get a PM back telling you that the Clinton supporters are just as bad, if not worse. :eyes:

12. I'm glad I am not the only one that feels that way
"He seems to inspire the worst behavior of any candidate's supporters I've ever witnessed"

I can't support a man whose followers behave in such a way.

13. Daily Kos is even worse....
poll numbers, fundraising and rally attendance dominate the rec list :silly: Of course, anti-HRC diaries, too, which are issue-less.

I've found more pro-Hillary discussion on MyDD and Talk Left. Also, for my conservative news fix, Redstate is not bad, they discuss Democrats, but not with the hatred I see in GD-P.

I'm an Edwards Dem who thinks Hillary is definitely the more qualified of the two, and I admire her spunk and fight. She won't let the GOP roll over her like Obama will. There is "no there" there with him, which certainly reflects his supporters !

I'm also a "recovering Republican" and if Obama's the nom, I may fall off the wagon

14. I know. I posted an article that was critical of Obama and it was
locked. Yet, the constant critical threads about Clinton--ugly name calling threads are allowed to remain.

I guess they have decided who is buttering their bread. It is a political decision. Tyranny of the majority.

16. The Thing Is
This group isn't supposed to be about going negative on Obama or his supporters so much as discussing Clinton. So if it's not directly campaign related, yeah, you are risking a lock.

18. This thread is about Clinton supporters.
Edited on Thu Apr-10-08 10:02 AM by MADem
And how they are crapped on at DU. And how the "majority" of Obama supporters aren't constrained in their attacks on said Clinton supporters.

The poster did not say he/she posted that remark HERE, on this particular subforum.

Risking a lock? Why aren't the insulting threads by Obama supporters locked?

Tyranny of the majority, that's why.

Hope they hang around with their wallets open.

15. I honestly think you will not hear back from "whomever", This is
what happens on many forums when one group supplants their beliefs over the others, and in so doing the moderators allow them to do this even when it goes against the so called rules of the forum.

What I see about the obama people is their desire to be seen as "being right" in their support of obama for the simple reason he is "black". They want to be on the side of supporting the "black" candidate and in doing so seen as somehow superior because they support this candidate. Then go so far as to condemn those of us for supporting the "white" or "woman" candidate and then to label us as either "bigots" or "racists". It is easy to label someone a "bigot" or a "racist" when in fact the candidate they support on numerous occasions has played the race card, as well as that candidates surrogates and then blame it on the other candidate and spouse.

I say, do not let their words in print upset you to the point you leave the forum because then they have won. Stand tall and write what is in your mind and as Eleanor Roosevelt said, "Do what you feel in your heart to be right - for you'll be criticized anyway. You'll be damned if you do, and damned if you don't." and "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent." and never allow that to happen.

Ben David

17. If it keeps up, all the Clinton supporters will leave for good, and take their money with them.
It's getting to the point where it just isn't very satisfying to even visit this forum anymore.

Nothing wrong with a difference of opinion, but the vitriol from the teenagers is pretty obnoxious. Hopefully, those same teenagers will stick around and donate after all is said and done. I wouldn't hold my breath, though---this is just their latest amusement.

21. I've been on an austerity program of late.
We're helping out a terminally ill friend with no insurance and no frigging resources, so we watch every dime (frantically, of late, as prices rise). But one day we'll have more 'disposable' income (sadly, but we will) and I have to admit I'm not inclined to contribute here simply because of the way that half of the party is treated. There's no effort at fairness or impartiality. It's not even halfway even-handed. It's blatantly one-sided.

If it's some sort of net experiment, to see what happens when juveniles take over and make asses of themselves, it's a stupid one. I don't think most of the vitriolic posters will hang around here much longer after they either get what they want, or get their asses handed to them. They'll trash the place and move on. And by then, what will the place be?

25. Of your kindness
do you know of a site where a female Boomer Hillary supporter would be welcome? It's become obvious that my 'type' isn't wanted here any longer and there have been a lot of calls for Hillary supporters to be TS'd should Obama secure the nomination. I have some beloved Groups here that I hate to give up, but the hate emanating from DU is more than I need and more than I can bear any longer.
