I don't know where else to post them, but they struck me as something that needed to be shared, especially with other Clinton supporters.
The first is from the Tao:
"68. Compassion
Compassion is the finest weapon and best defense. If you would establish harmony, Compassion must surround you like a fortress.
Therefore, A good soldier does not inspire fear; A good fighter does not display aggression; A good conqueror does not engage in battle; A good leader does not exercise authority.
This is the value of unimportance; This is how to win the cooperation of others; This to how to build the same harmony that is in nature."
The second was just a line from a Sci-Fi novel (The Elysium Commission) I've been reading and it struck me like a ton of lead. I've made it my sig.
"Hatred is a form of faith, distilled by passion to remove all rationality."
There is too much hatred and almost no compassion from the Obama camp.
After being inundated with this during this primary, it galls me to even think about supporting him. The spiteful glee with which my support would be met is a humiliation that I don't see how I can face.
And yet, I have been a Democrat from before I could even vote. The principles that were supposed to found this Party seemed so obvious to me, I couldn't comprehend how anyone could deny them. Yet it seems, now, that the Party itself has denied those very principles I hold dear.
I wish I had guns or religion or antipathy to others unlike myself so I could explain my bitterness.
