Anything that is pro-Hillary seems to turn into a flame war and anything said in her defense just seems to add fuel to the flame so I just keep my head down and don't say much.

ever recover. The number of people here who really actually hate Senator Clinton, despite what Senator Obama says about that, is really really sad, and hate does horrible things to a group's spirit.

We still have people accusing her of actually being capable of planning to kill him to get her way. It gets alerted, but nothing is done. ACCUSING HER OF BEING A POTENTIAL MURDERER is apparently OK now.

Oh, and did you know that we are evidently all Operation Chaos participants? 'Cause "the polls" show that she is one of the most "disliked political figures" in the country, so her 18 million votes must be all Operation Chaos, racists, or just too stupid to do otherwise. ...Sad, really sad!

Big Tree was a good supporter of Hillary and always posted such positive things that I was hoping that he would stick around.

Too many hillary people have been so poorly treated here, since the majority were Obama supporters, that they have left or been tombstoned. It's a darn shame!!!

I saw a post by bigtree a few days ago, so I guess he is still around, just not as active.

Yes, many Hillary supporters are gone, some of them longtime DUers. This place took on the flavor of a witchhunt for a couple of weeks and several posters were goaded into making statements that got them banned. I didn't post much in GD-P for a while, but it seems to have settled down a little bit lately. I've even seen some posts that complimented Hillary that didn't turn into flame wars.

38. Yep, people were goaded on purpose to try to get rid of them.

I frankly do not like the censorship on this board (or anywhere else for that matter), it's stressful to have to walk around on eggshells worried if anything you write may get you banned.

I don't think that gratuitous insults should be accepted, but dissension is healthy in any democracy. I don't go for the collective mentality. There's plenty to criticize Obama on, for starters, his FISA vote comes to mind.

I also don't like the glee with which some in the Obama crowd celebrate when a fellow Democrat gets banned simply because they weren't 100% in agreement with the nominee. To me it's undemocratic.

Hadn't posted here until now. Someone gave me a star so now I can. I supported Hillary in the Primary. I'm voting for Obama in the General.

But that doesn't seem to be good enough. I just got deleted from a post where I suggested to the OP that her constant, inane Hillary attacks were not helping get Obama elected, that by wanting to keep the primary wars going, she was helping the republicans. She accused me of personally attacking her and got the mods to delete my message. Of course there were dozens of "way to go" and "fucking awesome" and "K&R" replies to the OP that suggested Hillary was part of some secret, underground plot to overthrow the convention. These people never talk about mccain or the republicans. It's kill Hillary and banish her supporters on a 24/7 basis. I figure I'll get tossed out sometime or another. On the whole, my experience with DU is so much more disappointing than my work with the real Democratic Party. I think the place started off okay, but has been taken over by zealots and celebrity fans.

I think there is a concerted trolling effort going on. Too many people are experiencing too much harassment, from threatening phone calls to getting blogs deleted to being chased off boards, for it to be a coincidence. Much is made of the organizing, mobilizing and fundraising potential of the Internet, but we have yet to come to grips with the impact of troll culture on politics.

While there are plenty who do seem genuinely caught up in the drama, there are too many who have invested too much time and energy to control the information stream for it to be a coincidence.

And yet, most of the people engaging in that behavior don't strike me as being smart enough to understand the full implications of what they're doing or the strategy of it. I think a huge proportion are people who came from AOL, Yahoo, gaming, and other boards where insulting the hell out of everyone who disagrees with you is the daily bread and butter.

Like you, I supported Hillary during the primaries, but I will vote for Obama in the General.

I have noticed other Hillary supporters that have been banned from this site or have just given up and quit posting here. I never expected to see posts like I have seen in GD-P on this board or to see them attract so many responses. I'm sure that the anonymity has something to do with the incivility of some of the remarks, but the fact that they are allowed to stand is surprising.

The atmosphere around here lately is not the same as when I started posting here after the 2004 GE. It has really been disappointing.

As for GD: P it is such a cesspool of Clinton hate that I have to take it in small doses. When the mood strikes me I fight back but I try to be careful because it seems that Hillary supporters here have a huge target on their backs.

...mainly out of sympathy for the treatment folk in this group (as well as Hillary herself) have received.

A year ago, I was diametrically opposed to her candidacy; but I have to say that the viciousness of this past primary season has been a real eye-opening experience for me.

This morning I wrote a post that was a critique of what I saw as a very negative trend for the convention, and gave examples that showed why the 'pukes are beating us on "the message."

Two PAs. Both alerted, and both are still there, three hours later.

A thought for some to ponder, when it comes to all the losers writing personal attacks against you: the closest they'll ever come to greatness is brushing against your shoulders as you make your way through the door.
