It's not about her. She was chosen to rub the Clinton supporters / Obama supporters feud in everyone's faces. The fact GD: P is in such an ungodly uproar bears that out. People need to calm the fuck down and deal with it.

1. I had an ugly fight with the spouse about it

Him: Are you as insulted as I am about the obvious pander...?
Me: As a matter of fact, no. It is nice to be asked politely for my vote, instead of having it beaten out of me with the unity stick.

I am flattered to receive the engraved invitation. I will politely check NO in the RSVP and mail it back, but it's nice of them to think of me.

McCain saw a political opportunity and went for it. We can't blame him for it; it is what politicians do. The question is, what did we do to create that opportunity for them?

but possesses mounds of raw political talent. The Obama campaign would be well advised to not underestimate her.

Obama blew it big time by not picking Hillary, imo. The Dems would be soaring at this point had he made the better choice. Nothing wrong with Joe Biden. In fact, I think he's great. But he's not Hil. Great political move by McCain. Lacking creds or not. Still a great move.

10. Palin clearly is an asset to the Repulicans, after her speech

They liked her zingers, they liked her "authenticity" they really don't care - they never do - how they support things about her that normally they abhorred: like women working outside the home and a pregnant teen.

But I have to wonder whether McCain would have selected her - rather, was told to select her - had Hillary been our nominee.

And against a boring pair of McCain-Lieberman, Clinton Clark would have been sailing away in the polls.

13. It's been two weeks

And everyone all over the site and the party is still bouncing off the walls. No sign of anyone calming the fuck down or dealing with it. Everyone's way off message. Obama needs to start handing out Quaaludes to his peeps at this rate.

14. This whole debacle proved one thing

The voters were READY to vote for a woman.
That explains the wins in Hillary's column in the states that are needed to win an election. It explains the 18,000,000 popular votes she received. The DNC can put all the superdelegates and caucus wins in the winning column for Obama to make it look good...but it all comes down to the 18,000,000 people who eagerly voted for Hillary and what they were looking for. That wasn't even taken into consideration by the powers-that-be and there are apparently a great deal of them that are throwing their support behind Palin.
Palin is not the candidate WE want...however, she is riding the wave that Hillary started.
The wave that would have been the Democrats.
It's a pity the way it turned out.
Obama made a HUGE mistake when he didn't choose Hillary as a running mate.
It'll be interesting, that's for sure.

15. Maybe you agree with me

that there are still so many hard feelings for the way Obama's campaign treated the Clinton's and used the racist chant if you didn't jump on the Obama bandwagon early. Hillary did win the popular vote in most places but she was still asked to step aside for the party's sake, and the SD arm twisting is hard to forget.
Last night on TV I was watching as the local station interviewed Evan Bayh who helped Hillary win Indiana. The interviewer wanted to know if there would be a job for Bayh in the Obama administration, I was surprised when Bayh said in his usually mannered way:"Are you kidding, Richard Lugar would be more apt to get a place in the Obama administration than I would". Bayh went out of his way to help Hillary and I guess the Obama people were upset about it. But when it was announced that Obama would be the candidate Bayh was behind him 100%.
