Florida and Michigan: Anyone else smell a rat?

I hate to sound paranoid but.....

Is anyone else getting the feeling that FLA and MI may have been deliberately "penalized" by the DNC because they were known to be Clinton Country?

I hate to say it... but things are really starting to look suspicious. I mean... why didn't the DNC do what the RNC did to it's outlyers? Why not give them at least half of their votes... just to keep them engaged?

It seems counterintuitive to completely alienate these states, which would have been likely to go blue in November, unless there was an ulterior motive.

Anybody else smell a rat?

1. I smell a rat.

And my assertion in this argument is that Hillary would have had such a sizable lead and such a huge forward movement coming out of her victories in Michigan and Florida, that Obama would have probably dropped out a long time ago. No DNC member in their right mind could deny this.

This momentum that Obama enjoys has been stolen from Hillary by the DNC that has totally botched Florida and Michigan.

2. Nothing would surprise me.

I am just amazed at how so many of the party have ganged up on her. They seem to have decided long ago that Obama will be the nominee, regardless. I am so disgusted...

3. The other thing I find suspicious is...

that these two states are cookie cutter Clinton territory. Florida is seniors and latinos. Michigan is mostly blue collar. And, correct me if I am wrong.... but they both hold closed primaries.

but this is another thing that drives me nuts. Obama winning big in all these states with open primaries where Independents and Republicans can participate. What does that mean? That all these people really like Obama and will vote for him in Nov? Especially all these Republicans voting in the primaries for him? Or does it mean they are screwing with our primaries and trying to pick our candidate for us? With the exception of IL, Hillary won in all the Blue states that are big states in NOv. NY, NJ, CA, even MA where Kerry, Kennedy and the Gov were campaigning against her!! So he wins in Nebraska and Idaho and states like that and that is supposed to impress me? Or I am supposed to be impressed by the fact that a lot of people who may or MAY NOT vote for him in Nov. voted for him in the primaries? Give me a break. Here in CT where we have closed primary, Hillary lost but not by a lot. And we have a lot of rich, white people here. So what does that tell you? I am so sick of all of this.

6. Me too.

So much so that I may have to break ranks with the party I have voted for in every election for 32 years. This is the worst I have ever felt about the Dems. I feel I am being stabbed in the back for being a long time member and supporter. If I was living in FLA or MI I would be absolutely incensed by the disenfranchisement.

10. I agree w/ your comments. I guess I'm trying to remember the last time we had a primary race like

this? When was the last time we had democratic candidates duking it out like these two?

Also, I totally agree w/ your comments re MI and FL. The "loss" of these states really killed Hillary's campaign. I really think they thought they'd get the delegates and never recovered when it became clear they weren't.

Counting both these states would have given her the momentum. The race would have looked entirely different.

4. I'm so disgusted and PISSED over what they have done to Hillary.

Reminds me of what goes on daily in the corporate arena.

7. It absolutely amazes me how people I thought were

smart and independent can be so easily taken by the fluff with no substance. Sometimes I wonder if during the night the pod people came and stole their bodies and we were just missed. The out of control adulation is scary. Now I understand why some people easily get sucked into cults. It's insane. This man with lots of pretty words and no content and the media and so many people are nuts over him like he is a god. And don't you dare criticize him in the least bit (or his wife) or they will come after you!

8. Florida is a closed primary

I was looking at a graph yesterday someone posted and you could look at your county, and Obama won maybe 10 county's and I was shocked, one of the county's was mine. But most of the state went for Hillary and the Latino vote went overwhelmingly for Hillary. Anyway, I spoke to someone in Karen Thurman's office and she said the delegates will be seated. What she didn't say but implied was that eventually Obama would gain enough seated delegates it wouldn't matter with the florida delegates. To keep voters from being disenfranchised they would seat the delegates. So I think the OP may be on to something.

9. I am floored that so many women have fallen for the Hope in a Jar candidate.

I've seen many women on this forum using Phylis Schlafly talking points against Hillary Clinton as well. I am just beside myself with anger and will not become a member of this cult, EVER!

Florida and Michigan were forewarned what would happen if they went ahead with their plans.

12. When we say "they were forewarned" who are we talking about?

The people? A few party insiders?

If the answer is the latter, that does nothing to debunk my hypothesis that there was some kind of ulterior motive. The DNC, perhaps, thought it could handicap the Clinton race up front?

Or maybe someone in the party wanted to force a crisis with the Superdelegate strategy??? (I have some ideas on who this might have been.... but I'll hold them for now, til I gather more evidence.)
