And you know of whom I speak. It's appalling to think that local and state
party headquarters might be dominated by folks who treat Democratic opponents as HRC is being treated now on DU. How many volunteers, contributors, voters will be lost? For that matter, how will candidates continue to be found for local and state offices?

Another issue coming right at us is what happens, if Obama is indeed elected, when the honeymoon inevitably ends? More slash and burn? Large scale disillusionment among the huge turnout of voters?

I''m worried, but not going away. Not from DU, not from local work, not from work on issues that matter. Some of us will have to "mind the fires" once this crazy election cycle ends.

Thoughts?

1. It is very disheartening. At this time it is hard to imagine ever feeling right with the Dems again.

2. It surprises me how many old-timers get into it. I can get my head around

newcomers not understanding what they're doing, but there are many people that should have a firmer grasp of what it is their actions are leading to. I've voted for the Democratic candidate in every election since the early seventies, even if they weren't my main choice. If the senator from Illinois gets the nomination, I'm more than likely to cast a write-in ballot in the general election, thanks mostly to his supporters.

Edit: omitted a word.
