Women and the Bosses they Train: my assessment of last night's debate.
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 07:42 AM by susankh4
Hillary did just what Ted Strickland told her to do in last night's debate. She come out as the fighter that she really is... for Universal Health Care, for ending the war in Iraq, for revising NAFTA, for creating Green Collar jobs in Ohio. I will keep my paws crossed that Mr. Strickland knows Ohio as well as he thinks he does.

Her tough talk did appeal to ME. It was just what I wanted to see! I even called for it in some of my DU posts yesterday. But, I am not sure how many men could handle it. My own DH seemed put off by it. Not intellectually, but viscerally. I think she hits the "mommy button" for him. That worries me a bit. That said, we both saw this as a strong performance by Hillary. On the issues she was top dog for sure.

But, I have to admit, I also saw the best debate of Barack's career heretofore. After 20 debates, he is learning well from Sen. Clinton.... about how to stick to the issues and cut the Care Bear sing-a-longs. He seems to be delving more deeply into his policies than ever before. In the end, I fear, Hillary has done just what sooooo many women all over this country do: train the men who will become our bosses.

I am heartsick at the prospect that this election is being stolen out from under her.... by the MSM's pandering to Obama. And the party elders (all men) forsaking her. I'm not surprised, tho. It's an old song. If you are a woman, and you have ever trained your future (male) boss.... you know just want I mean.

".obviously, I am thrilled to be running to be the first woman president, which I think would be a seachange in our country and around the world. And would give enormous hope, and you know, give a real challenge to the way things have been done, and who gets to do them, and what the rules are".

Click on "Jackson on the Debate"

It is at 4:40 in the video

In the commentary afterwards it is said that this is a direct appeal to woman to try to draw some back, a hail-mary to gain more votes. I am inclined to agree.

3. You only have to look back at his earlier debates to see
how much he has changed his style.... to be more and more like hers.

I guess we can say he is, at least, a quick study. (Is 20 debates "quick" enough?)

5. It took me 20 years to stop training men to supervise me.
When I finally learned to use the generic approach, "Let me know if there's anything I can
help you with after you've formulated your plan," (instead of handing them my ideas and
plans outright), I started getting the promotions and the awards.

8. I hated how he parroted nearly everything she said - that's why she goes first all the time...
Edited on Wed Feb-27-08 05:34 PM by libbygurl
...and why, last debate, Obama chose to answer second when given the choice! He is a real copycat. Repeating what mommy told him to do to get things done right - like the 'reject and denounce' comment.

I really do hate him and his disingenuousness. He's got no original ideas. Why did he not do something to change DC as a Senator? (And why did he turn on his promise to do two terms?) Like he can do magic as a prez now?

9. His best? oh dear....i thot he was dreadful
He droned on and on and round and round and said nothing
on most things to me. He just really seemed unprepared to
lead...

BUT

This was the first debate I had watched in real time.
