2006 -- Statement by Senator Barack Obama on the subjects of Senator Hillary Clinton and the Iraq War Vote, New Yorker Magazine:

"You know, I think very highly of Hillary. The more I get to know her, the more I admire her. I think she’s the most disciplined—one of the most disciplined people—I’ve ever met. She’s one of the toughest. She’s got an extraordinary intelligence. And she is, she’s somebody who’s in this stuff for the right reasons. She’s passionate about moving the country forward on issues like health care and children. So it’s not clear to me what differences we’ve had since I’ve been in the Senate.

"I think what people might point to is our different assessments of the war in Iraq, although I’m always careful to say that I was not in the Senate, so perhaps the reason I thought it was such a bad idea was that I didn’t have the benefit of U.S. intelligence. And, for those who did, it might have led to a different set of choices. So that might be something that sort of is obvious. But, again, we were in different circumstances at that time: I was running for the U.S. Senate, she had to take a vote, and casting votes is always a difficult test."

1. It makes me
soooooo mad that Obama is winning because of this issue.

He did not vote against the IWR, he did not vote - period.

How does he know how he would have voted if he was privvy to the same meetings, briefings, etc that people who were actually in the Senate received.

Biggest bunch of shit.

2. in The New Republic there is an article that was posted here earlier today ...
Edited on Sat Mar-01-08 08:16 PM by flordehinojos
the article is by Sean Wiletz. The article explains how Obama played the race card and blame Hillary Clinton. ... it is a good, interesting, long, and detailed article. In the last paragraph of the article Wilentz states,

"... there is a long history of candidates who are willing to inflame the most deadly passions in our national life in order to get elected. Sadly, it is what Barack Obama and his campaign gurus have been doing for months--with the aid of their media helpers on the news and op-ed pages and on cable televiions ... They promise to continue until they win the nomination by any means necessary."

all of which confirms, in my mind at least, BO's long held belief: "don't just be principled when everyone else is being pragmatic" ... in other words, principle be damned, or the end justifies the means... quite true to the Bush mantra as well.

o, and this is the link to the Wilentz article which was posted here earlier

3. That was an excellent article. What they did is so bad for the country.
I liken it to the O.J. Simpson trial.
