52 seconds long, Obama gives the
repigs every thing they need to destroy
him in the GE if he wins the nomination.

This will be spun predictably that
he is going to gut the military and
defense spending, this after he has
said he wants to add 100,000 troops.

(Yet China pushes to weaponize space and we
proved it works shooting down the satellite)


"...I will slow development of future combat systems..."
(This is not what our troops need in a time of
active military conflict)


"...and I will institute a "Defense Priorities Board" to ensure the quadrennial defense review is not used to justify unnecessary spending..."
(this will do far worse damage to the military than Bill
Clinton's cuts ever did)


"...I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons..."
(this is hopeful thinking at best, more like delusional)


"...and to seek that goal, I will not develop nuclear weapons..."
(Warheads age just like anything else, becoming instable and
needing replacement-we are supposed to believe the others are
not keeping their existing warheads viable)


"...I will seek a global ban on the development of fissile material..."
(Again, how can you rest assured that the others will not continue
to develop fissile material and weapons)


"...and I will negotiate with Russia to take our ICBMs off hair-trigger alert..."
(Yeah, right...and I have an island I want to sell you....in the
middle of Boston Harbor. The Russians will not go for it)

The responses to this ad were given by a family member
who is a retired lifer in the Army. He says Obama has
no clue about the military and no foreign relations
expertise. He was a hard core Biden supporter but says
Hillary is who we need out of what is left to choose from.

1. They really do sound like words from someone very naive about defence...

...and the real world. I would like to believe in all that, too (and did so for a while, being much more extreme on the left than I am now, until this thing called reality caught up with me), but sadly it just ain't the way things work. I wouldn't want some neophyte who'll have to learn the ropes yet while lots of pressing things call for his immediate attention the moment he's inaugurated as prez - given the unmitigated disaster in all corners that the next president will have to deal with and correct or mitigate.

Damned scary, if you ask me. What's he going to do then - make another speech like he did on the Iraq War II when he was still an IL senator?

2. He is very naive.

National security and defense
have no margin for error to allow
for 'on the job training'.
Like you, I was way further left
than I used to be but, reality bites
and this is the real world. Our
military is vital and our presence
as an'unbeatable' world power has
always worked to our advantage in
keeping rogue regimes somewhat in
line.
Very scary, very scary indeed.

4. McCain will gut him like a fish on national security and defense.

I hate to say it but, McCain is not a warmonger
like the Obamarosas would like to believe. He
has even filibustered Congress on sending troops
where he thought they were not needed. That coupled
with his military experience and his POW status, he
will trump Obama on this issue.
