You know, if I were the Clintons I'd be feeling VERY bitter right now

As much as they've done for this party, as much service as they've given to the people of this country, to be sold out and treated like garbage from so many within their own party -- damn, I'd be VERY bitter. Most recently Clinton gave us eight years of a successful Presidency even though he was up against a Republican-controlled Congress and their never-ending smear campaigns; Hillary has been a very effective Senator for the people of New York. And both have worked for other Dems in the party and Hillary especially has helped to elevate women Democrats across the land.

And now look. They are treated like gutter trash, attacked more viciously than even the Republican pitbulls in the 90's. Hell, even a man as vile and stupid and incompetent as George Bush isn't treated that way among Republicans and I dare say, from what I've seen on DU recently, the Clintons are being savaged more than GWB, who actually deserves contempt.

What the hell is wrong with this party? And to hear people of stature (in our party) so viciously attack Hillary Clinton, a fellow Senator and former First Lady, I can only say perhaps this party deserves to go down in flames. It's abhorrent. This is a party that disrespects its own legacy, shows no loyalty to those who have given a lifetime of service to its cause.

I can't say that at any time in my life I have been ashamed to be called a Democrat. Until now.

and this whole fiasco with FL and MI is going to bite the Democrats in the butt in the GE. There is already talk about how the Democrats can't even run a primary so how can they be trusted to run the country....and I think, unfortunately, that is a valid argument.

2. I agree with everything that has been said above.

I am most upset also with folks like Kerry who I supported 100%,and who the Clintons worked hard for and now he deserts them for the other candidate and speaks unfavorably of them. There is no loyalty in The Democratic Party anymore and the Republicans are far smarter as a party. If Dean had done what they did and just reduce the number of the delegates, instead of trying to show his muscle, then it would not be the no win situation that it is now and would not have damaged the party.

The Clinton's have given too much to the Democratic party to then have the party turn around and spit on them. This trashing of the Clinton's went on even during Bill's presidency.As for Kerry, Ted Kennedy was a big Kerry backer and I think Teddy called in the favor.

The Dems that are attacking them now, Kennedy, Kerry, etc. are now permanently on my sh*t list. I will never be able to listen to them again and take them seriously. (To be fair, I haven't taken Kerry seriously since he rolled over for Bush.) I used to love Dean, as I read, he is going down the tubes for me.

7. I am appalled at the attitude of much of the Democratic party

Few have worked as hard for Dems as Hillary and Bill. And yet they're vilified while a freshman Senator, who would still be unknown had he not been chosen for his gift of speech for the 2004 Convention keynote, is practically deified. Just what has he done for the party that comes close to what the Clintons have given?

It's one thing to disagree with some of Hillary's policies (I don't agree with all of them 100% either), but the ad hominum attacks are disgusting.

8. I'm ashamed

The only thing I can hold on to is when this party disintegrates is that just possibly the ones on the left side of the party will be represented and not taken for granted anymore.
