2. Thanks for pointing that out, saracat
I don't often visit the Editorials forum. I did respond...that was a brave, and heartbreaking piece by Mrs. McGreevey. I had no idea she didn't know what her husband would say, or even that he was gay, until he handed her a copy of his speech "an hour before the press conference." Can you imagine?

3. No. Thta was revolting. And I still remember those who said how "brave" he was.
She had just had a baby too, not long before. I thought he was shithead. I think Spitzer is too.

4. As a lesbian -
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 01:16 AM by DURHAM D
let me say this - I think gay men who lead double lives are the most despicable human beings on the planet.

I have many more gay male friends than lesbian friends and all my friends know to keep me away from the married men on the down low at a social function. I have been known to totally go off on them - especially if they are bragging about how stupid or naive their wives are. As you might imagine my disgust began in the early 80s as these men were exposing (killing them) their wives to HIV.

I remember when the McGreevey thing happened and on various blogs the guys were saying "She had to know". They tried to make it her fault somehow. For me it brought back all my anger from the early days of the plague and I just wanted to stomp 'em.

Edit: Thanks for posting.

5. As a straight women who has had many gay male friends, now
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 01:51 AM by saracat
married to a straight male, I agree 100% with your statement. I have a "friend " who still likes to troll for men leading "straight" lives and laughs about the time a "wife" caught him in bed with the husband. I think it is the most contemptible vicious things that can be done. And don't even get me started on the guys on the "down low" I actually "dated one " in college and I had great "gaydar" so I was humiliated when I found out.Thankfully it wasn't any kind of serious relationship. But I remember Dina McGreevey as well and I felt so bad for her that day and often wondered about her. You are so right , they tried to make it "about her. And she was his second or third marriage! And then they had the nerve to have sympathy for him, after he used all those people.Yeah.I wanted to stomp "em too!

6. What do you expect when a thread like this...
"I must say that Eliot's Ho is smoking hot." is allowed to stand on GD? The title is bad enough, but if you read the responses you will feel as if you need to take a hot shower just to wash away the shame. It's so incredibly degrading yet it hasn't been locked. I'm just stunned.
