smacking my forehead
I sure can be dense and slow sometimes. The light finally dawned inside my thick cranium tonight.

The "racism" hoopla is cover for something - the perfect cover. It gives everyone license to express sexist and misogynist ideas with impunity. THAT is why people are so worked up. I couldn't figure out where all of the emotion was coming from on this.

It is open season on Senator Clinton as a woman. Everyone is getting free shots - a guilt-free opportunity and one that they can't be called on to just bash the crap out of Clinton and take out all of their hatred and resentment toward women on her. If she can be labeled a racist, then it is "OK" to call her bitch, shrill, hysterical, emotional, calculating, disingenuous, unstable. The fake racism thing is the one way, the only way they could get away with talking about a woman that way and still claim to be liberals.

It is so obvious to me now, and I don't know how I missed that.

1. It's also an effective political weapon - see why NYC has a GOP mayor

(in case you don't know - we had the chance to a competent progressive Marc green - but Sharpton "sharptonized" him - then told his voters to stay home in GE when his sockpuppet candidate lost the primaries)

Again, adding this very significant quote from Rush as found by Barett:

"Rush Limbaugh predicted on January 28—shortly after the South Carolina primary and before Super Tuesday—that Clinton ads would make Obama "appear darker than he is," alluding to Time magazine's infamous O.J. Simpson cover. He even repeatedly likened Bill Clinton to the notorious public-safety commissioner and Klansman Bull Connor, branding the ex-president "Bull Clinton."

That being said, yes, it's also saying "racism beats sexism"

2. 'Racism beats sexism.' Exactly. It is open season on HRC as *a woman*...
...since she's now a racist, too.

Good point, Two Americas!

3. I'm stunned by what's happening.
The msm made it possible for the Bush admin. to convince the public that Iraq had WMDs and that they must attack;they are now trying to convince the public that Hillary is a racist using racist tactics to win this election and like you said that makes it open season agaisnt her,a free for all.People are mindlessly raising their pitchforks in outrage.Just like they did when the msm beat the drum for War.

It is frightening to watch and very sad - When I think of the good Hillary Clinton has done for all but especially minorities!! it is heartbreaking that they are doing this to her.

4. Yes, it is heartbreaking. But the woman is made of steel, of much stronger stuff than most of us.
She just keeps plugging away on the campaign trail, smiling through it all, and that's one thing that keeps me believing in her. No way am I giving up on her - until she herself calls it quits.

The BO camp are very happy that things have been going their way with that subtle and not-so-subtle exploitation of the race card. The MSM have been wary of criticising him for this very reason. It's not over, either. See rodeo's post on the Yahoo AP story about Hillary's apology to blacks - and the very first paragraph couldn't even help but slip in a snarky remark in there!

6. And if one were to examine the Clintons' history, 'racist' is the last thing you'd call them.
Lies, repeated often enough, will become truth to many unthinking people.

So sad, so sad. I don't know how Hillary deals with these everyday. Although she did have practice during the right-wing smearfest in the '90s.

8. I agree and would add "cyber-bullying" to the recipe.

Even the authors of the Declaration of Independence smacked each other around--but not anonymously, not to much of the entire population at all, let alone instantaneously. The times, they have changed.....

10. The Obama Camp
has effectively used Karl Rove tactics to swiftboat the Clintons as racists.

attack the strength.

They are fond of calling Clinton Rovian, but she isn't --she's good old fashioned bare-knuckled Democratic politics. Sure it can get nasty --but it's not Rove-style.

That label belongs to Obama.

13. As a black woman I saw this coming like a freight train.
She'd be a bitch, and he'd be untouchable because one would have to watch every word for fear of being accused of racism.

17. it is also cover for the fact that baracka obama knows that hillary clinton is the better candidate.
it is cover for the fact that baracka obama also knows that he is a fake and an empty suit.

if he and his surrogates, including those among them in the press, can heat up the passionate flames of a race-baiting charge against hillary, he thinks he might have a chance that he would not otherwise have.

i have heard people like maxine waters, sheila jackson-lee, kendrick meeks, charles rangel, and other black members of congress stand with hillary to acknowledge that she is the more experienced contender, and to deny the charges of race-baiting against her but the media does not want to hear, so they bait the public, and baracka obama, knowing the truth, knowing that the clintons are not racists, throws a little gasoline into the fire, a little comment that feeds the fire, and lets it go on devouring the truth and dividing the country. his self-interest is dividing the country.

and whether his self interest is the quest for power, or to avenge whatever wrongs he feels has been done to him by that side of him of which he never talks (the side of him which is white) i don't know... but i do know that baracka obama is not acting for the best interest of this country.

if he were, he would stand on the side of truth. he would acknowledge that the clintons are not racists, that they have not race-baited, and he would make the campaign about the issues: iraq, health care, social security, jobs, education... he would not be letting this campaign slide into the mudslinging it is now turning into.

ferraro has seen through him very clearly and she got his number down to a tee.
