Obama does a "Gary Hart" and tells the media to prove he ever heard anything objectionable while attending his church. Well, Jim Davis went to this church on July 22, 2007 and reported back. I feel sorry for the white Secret Service men who have to listen to this hate mongering.

Presidential candidate Barack Obama preaches on the campaign trail that America needs a new consensus based on faith and bipartisanship, yet he continues to attend a controversial Chicago church whose pastor routinely refers to "white arrogance" and "the United States of White America."

In fact, Obama was in attendance at the church when these statements were made on July 22.

On one video, on Christmas Day, Wright tells that congregation that there is one man in the audience who will change things (or something like that). It's obviously Obama.

Though, actually, I thought someone on the right would pour over the videos to place him there at various times.

I really don't understand how he didn't KNOW his church was a heavy political liablity.

As far as I can tell, there is no video yet. Just speculating there may be one.

The article seems to just be an article, secret service men were with him last July when he was there and Wright said things like "United White States of America."

Sorry, I had to read the article about three times to make any sense of it. The author claims he was there, Obama was there, secret service were there and Obama nodded his head in agreement.

Secret Service can't testify about what someone they were guarding was doing. Completely confidentiality, or they would be not good at all. I shut up now. :-)

Who has any idea how long someone will pick up on this article?

9. This is just going to get worse for Obama.

You cannot present yourself as above
racial politics and as a uniter if you
support hate speech like Wright speaks
often in his sermons.

Wright speaks in terms of Black-Supremecy.
Keep in mind certain groups are condemned
for speaking in terms of White-Supremecy.
This is the ultimate back-hand at white
America after being taught that racial inequality
is wrong. America has worked hard to overcome
the mentality of Whites are better and it seems
that Wright wants to swing the pendulum all the
way to the opposite side instead of letting it
settle in the middle where it needs to be.
White people have long worked to overcome the
generational prejudices against Blacks and I cannot
fathom them being told that they must
ignore or accept African-Americans doing it
because of their ancestors past and them not saying
anything about it.
I fear that this will dredge up a lot of buried
racial tensions that may have died on out if left
alone.

Your post was very intuitive, insightful and speaks volumes of truth. That said, many see only one issue and you and I know exactly what that is. Let me say, my 20 years experience on my job I have experienced this attitude for as long as I can remember so I am not surprised about the context of the posts.

Another issue many do not see
is that for several generations,
White Americans for the most part
have taught their children to look
past race to the person and their
merit. Black America is still, for
the most part, teaching their children
to look for and point out any inclination
of something that may be perceived as a
racial slight. Black America is still
teaching their children to look at racial
differences first and merit second.

I learned a lot of it with over 20
years on the job too. I have seen affirmative
action in the form of racial quotas keep
qualified people from getting promotions they
deserved but, they never cried out racism.
Crazy world we live in these days with so
many people suffering from tunnel vision.
