A Brief Discourse © Ramon Piñero 2/23/04
My; Time travels so quickly when one has so very very little of it to spare.
The days spent daydreaming seem so wasteful’ now that I have a clear view unhindered by that youthful gauze that covered my eyes for so very long.
I wonder where all that time disappeared to.
One minute we played King of the Hill on the freshly plowed snow on the streets of the Bronx. Or perhaps wondered with awe when looking down Fifth Avenue Before the snow turned to brown and yellow slush, or when the ice made the sidewalks as slippery as fresh-blown glass.
When we were children Christmas took so long to arrive, and the last day of school seemed so very far away. and finally leaving home was an eternity from there.
Then we grew up..
Time was on warp drive.
Married with children who grow up at the speed of light and have children of their own.
The horizon looms larger as we get closer and closer and Time can’t or won’t slow down.
Our yesterdays’ seem further and further away, distant and cloudy as if we are looking back with gauze covering our eyes,
My, time seems short and there is so much more to do.
