Experience
Experience

Now I’m not an old man,
but I’ve gone a good piece.
This wasn’t in my plan
I wish aging would cease.

I made many mistakes
in the days of my youth.
Often raising the stakes
in my search for truth.

There are some things
that I wish I could change.
But fond memory it brings.
Does that sound so strange?

And if I were to tell you
there’s not much good in aging
Would you think it true?
Or inconsiderate presaging.

Wisdom is sure to come
with experience, its old mate.
It’s not a good trade for some
for years that are growing late.

I wish I had thoughts profound
about this old subject.
Thoughts to amaze and astound
before life presses eject.

But all I have is this simple song,
about what I have learned.
No great words to pass along.
No deep meaning to be discerned.

1. I will trade you
three hundred twenty two wrinkles and ten hundred experiences for six of your months?

Really old is not bad. Just terminal.

2. I thought that my poem might be controversial
after I posted it, but after consulting with my lawyer we decided to give it a go ;)

I wish I could be permanently stuck at the age that I am right now. Went through a lot of hard times when I was younger. Wouldn't want to do that again. But I sure as hell don't want to get any older.

3. Your poem and thoughts
are just fine.

The alternative to growing old is often contemplated as well.

4. thank you. don't forget..... each bite we take out of time can either be
swallowed quickly without tasting, or savored, as one who slowly eats a strawberry.
