Hey -- Seattle-area poets...
Hi guys. I wanted to let you know, if you're interested, that I will be "teaching" a poetry class at the Richard Hugo House on Capitol Hill, on April 29. If any of you are interested, please see the followng links, and sign up. I think it will be a good class -- very fun, and, hopefully, we'll have some food or coffee or drinks, afterward -- and just talk poetry or anything at all. I'm posting the description of the class, and how to register, below:

Four Engines
In this class, we'll explore four main engines of modern and contemporary
poetry: disjunction, dislocation, juxtaposition and surprise. In this class
we'll look at each as devices that can give us new and bold possibilities
for our own writing and introduce ways of peering into and enjoying modern
and contemporary lyric poems that may seem "difficult" on the surface.
Students should come prepared to write, to discuss and to make writing
through collaboration. Along the way we'll read amazing poems by Wallace
Stevens, John Ashbery, Louise Glück, Bernadette Mayer, D.A. Powell, Joshua
Clover and Matthea Harvey.
Instructor: Crystal Curry
Meets: Saturday, April 29, 1–5 p.m. Min. 5 Max. 15
Cost: members- $65, nonmembers- $75

To register, please call (206) 322-7030.
