1. Congratualtions!
Do you go to meetings of any kind? What made you decide to give it up? If you don't mind my asking.

3. Here.
I officially quit about a year ago, but I've had a few oopsies since then. About four months since the last time I smoked.

4. congratulations
I've got about 21 days under my belt. I failed a drug test, and was unable to secure a job due to this failure. I have another test coming up, if I get hired at this other place.

I've been stoned for about 15 years now, with only a couple of months, maybe a half a year sober, during this time.

10. Suffered a relapse last Oct.
Due to the system, I was placed in a shared living arrangement. Hated it. Got out and still clean after six months. I should be pushing for the end of my probation come this summer (crosses fingers)

12. How do you know if you're addicted to pot? At what point does it
morph from being fun to impacting your life? I honestly didn't realize pot was so detrimental to some people. I've championed the pot cause for over 40 years and failed to see that it can actually be harmful. I'd love some honest feedback. Thank you.

14. I've come off it before ..
7 years at one time .. it isn't the chemical addiction you'll find with some stuff.
But one recovery site indicates that depression is a huge issue with 'withdrawal' and even that suicide rates six months after people quit pot are way higher than national averages.

It probably becomes a problem when it causes problems. I've given it up before because who wants to deal with those people. I've got a new hometown now and the people are cool, but just don't indulge. They drink their fool heads off, but smoke is few and far between.

16. I Tried To Be A Pot Addict
and if the truth be known, my "drug of choice" was getting stoned after a good night of hard drinking

but just smoking pot, I tried that. I would smoke so much I was just tired and lazy, or I'd be somewhere and be paranoid and needing a drink.

Given all of that, it has been harder for me to keep pot in the category of something I must not use.

I haven't smoked in 23 years or so. I still have pot smoking dreams. I have to say that I have to avoid being around smokers. I was on a sailboat once with my wife, mother in law, her latest guy at the time and he was smoking. It was very tempting and made me nervous because I was on the damned sailboat and couldn't escape.

I also realized early on that while I loved my pot smoking friends who didn't have problems with alcohol, that I couldn't invite them to my house because they would want to get high. Once before a football game we were going to, I was sitting on the front porch waiting for them to come out after they got high in my house. Somehow, that didn't seem right LOL

So I respect the hold that pot has over me, and cant' let myself smoke it or be around it.
