Welcome to the Addiction/Recovery Group

I just wanted to take moment to welcome everyone here.

Here are a few things I think should be covered.

1. People posting here should take care that they do not post anything here that they would not want broadcast to the world (common sense I know but...). This is not a private chatroom and things said here are not private. If there are sensitive things that need to be said, please PM a person in the group, thus taking it offline and not jeopardizing any anonymity, etc.

2. Although this is an online support group, it is not intended to take the place of face to face meetings/support groups. In other words, it may not be in a person's best interest to use this group as one's sole source of support for his or her recovery.

3. Unless people in the group have any objections, I would like to keep this group open to family members/friends affected by addiction.

4. Although my own recovery background is based upon the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, people using other methods of recovery are welcome to share their experiences. I believe we can all learn from each other. That being said, we all need to keep an open mind when it comes to others' paths to recovery. Bashing of anyone's path to recovery WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. It is never okay to jeopardize anyone else's recovery and all such posts will be alerted upon.

I think that about covers what I need to say.
