This may sound "pie in the sky" - I wish I'd kept the cutting - but in
a newspaper I read here in the UK last week, there was a brief article stating that researchers had found a way of neutralising the addictive effect of alcohol, i.e rendering alcoholic drinks simply non-addictive, take-it-or leave-it, like any other drink

I'm not sure if that means that the sufferer could no longer take refuge in alcohol, because I believe that is the more intractable problem than the physical addiction; hence the value of AA and the accumulated wisdom relating to the person's outlook and attitude accrued over such a long period of time.

Like most, if not all, such medical discoveries, I think it was indicated that it will be a certain amount of time before such treatment becomes available to the public. But, assuming there are no hitches, countering the chemical side of the disease would at least seem to be a significant start, wouldn't it?

2. I wish I could rmember the details. It was physical cells being modified
in some apparently non-injurious way.

I imagine more about it will appear soon. I will try though to find out from the newspaper. I think it would have been in the Daily Mail.

I'll see if I can find it on their website soon.

3. Even if they came up with such a magic bullet
I would remain sober, because I have received so much in my recovery.

5. Brilliant, Kitchenwitch. That's the beauty of it, isn't it, there's not only
light at the end of the tunnel, but you appreciate every thing so much more in its beauty. Reborn, really, is the impression I get. A new life.
