so we had the cops at our Noon meeting today

a guy who is about 6 months sober couldn't wait til someone got there to open up the Club (owned by the city as part of their DUI program) and went behind the house and pissed in the corner

the homeowner who lives next door saw him, went ballistic and called the cops

they came and the AAer knew the cop and they had a chat and the cops left in a few minutes

about 15 minutes later, the cops returned. seems the homeowner had sworn out a warrant. so the AAer wrote a check to a buddy to go cash after the meeting to bail him out and the cops took him out. The cops were beside themselves with embarrassment, apologizing like crazy for interrupting us.

The funniest part was the AAer asked one of the gals there to keep his car keys and come and get him. She shared later in the meeting that she has some "wreckage of her past" and still has a couple warrants she hasn't taken care of yet so she wouldn't be going to the copshop to get her pal after all.

What a hoot! I love AA

2. he got out of jail. another AAer who *has* cleaned up his past went
and got him.

the worst actor of the whole scene was the homeowner who jumped in his truck! to drive next door and yell at us all, screech his wheels as he hauled ass away, then yell at the cops when they showed up.

the regulars at the club say the homeowner has been observed on more than one occasion drunk off his ass terrorizing his family (which could be clearly heard through the windows of the club)

we hope to see the homeowner in a meeting one of these days

3. Yes, that is usually the case.
Can't have all those goddamned AAs around to spoil his drinking after all.

8. Damned Losers!
 ;)

It would be a drag to be trying to drink and have AA meetings next door all the time.

And to be out peeing in your own yard and see one of them peeing outside too.

(I made that part up, but I bet if he's a drunk he pees outside. Just guessing.)

9. I only hope for his wife's sake
that he doesn't pee in the kitchen sink or the shower.

:puke:

Perhaps he will find his way next door and trod the path of happy destiny.

4. Good Jesus God and all things Holy
sure! sign me up. Bizzaro never stops. I don't care what the steps say.
We remain insane. Just not alcohol insane. WTF?

It's true. I've been sober in AA and I know the insanity never leaves.
It is nice when the alcohol is gone.

sheesh

Give Life a Chance.

5. Life still happens votes
we just change our way of dealing with it (hopefully)

what I can say is that 6 month old AAer had tools yesterday. He actually had a checking account (it was a new one that he started in recovery), because he was sober he had the $$ in the bank to pay the bail, he had friends to help him and he didn't run away or get belligerant. He spoke politely with the police and they bent over backwards to allow him to take care of the situation before they took him off.

it was a shining example of living life on life's terms with grace and humor
