Breaking up with Lady Vicodin

I've had an on-again, off-again relationship with Lady Vicodin. When we're together, nothing could be better. She makes me feel loved, warm and whole. She whispers in my ear that she's the only one who loves me, and that no one could ever match her desire or charm.

But Lady Vicodin is also a bitch - a mean bitch. If you try to break up with her, she'll make you pay. Your whole body will scream out for her. It almost seems as if your very own blood is crying out for her to come and comfort you. She'll always be there to take you back into her arms - but that always comes with a price. Like I said, she's a bitch, and she likes to be your one and only. More than your lover - more than those close to you - more than anyone.

Sigh - Lady Vicodin is a stunning woman but I'm afraid she has to go.

She can be a real bitch but so can her cousins Mr. Percocet and Ms. Oxycontin. I was good friends with them all at one time, but no more. I celebrated 7 years on January 14th, through the grace of my higher power and my sober friends.

Find sober people, hang out with them, and most of all when things are going really fucking lousy, pick up a.................................phone. Believe me the person on the other end WILL come get you.

Good luck my friend. Yesterday is in the past and we don't know what tommorow will bring, all we have is today. Make the most of it.
