4. other than I totally screwed up cooking dinner, it's been great

i made my annual calls to the two men who 12 stepped me all those years ago, made both their days :D

hubby ended up working in the yard instead of out on a truck so he got home early and spent the afternoon with me which was way way cool. after working together 24/7 for 4 years, I miss his self with the new schedule

I bought fresh catfish fillets, planning on doing the mayo/breadcrumb baked thing to them, decided to southern fry them instead, under cooked them, then burnt them :cry:

but it's all good, I am *such* a better cook than I was back in 11/04 I can forgive myself for the occasional total screw up which tonight was

How's your ankle doing? I'm thinking the pain is better now (I hope) and that you have figured out some tricks on how to cope by now. I'm sending love and healing white light to your ankle often and you will probably get some reflection of that love too hehehheehhhe

:D The woman who took me to my first meeting was so batshit crazy and my employee to boot. But hey, she was sober and now so am I :)

Too bad about the incinerated fish. At least you got to spend some time with your sweetie.

The ankle is getting better. I am still in the cast, but mostly pain free. I am lying here on my back with my legs up the wall trying to get the swelling in my toesies to subside. So if my typing is worse than usual, that is why. The laptop is at a rather strange angle. :crazy:

as for the guys who 12 stepped me, they were both ex boyfriends and long time drinking buddies. one came into town and came by the bar where I worked and left me a bag of speaker tapes and a couple books (not the BB but some personal stories of recovery) He did this to 3 people that night, he told me later he figured I'd be the last one to 'get it' cuz I was so smart that I'd think it to death

less then 4 days later, I heard my old pal/bf/fellow bartender was working a shift at the sports bar. I hadn't seen him in years and he looked GREAT!!! I offered to buy him a drink, he thanked me politely but said that he didn't drink any more. This statement just knocked my socks off. this was the guy who would get busted for drinking, would drink on Anabuse, spent 1/3 of his life on a work release program. This was the guy who I'd point at and say "Yeah I'm a drunk but at least I'm not like HIM"

I asked him how in world he managed that and he said he was a member of AA and hadn't had a drink in over 7 years. I wanted all the details right then, but he was a smart guy. I was drunk at the time so he said "Shann, it's a conflict of interest for me to tell my bosses' customers not to drink. If you are really serious, call me tomorrow"
