How do you bring yourself to pause for HALT?
I am really struggling with that today. This has certainly not been the most serene twentyfour in my life.

As most of you are aware, I consider Minneapolis my hometown, even though I moved away from there about a year ago. My family is safe, my closest friends are safe, but there are a few I have not been able to contact as of yet. Although my brain knows that I am completely powerless over that, my emotions have me obsessed.

I did eat, so I am no longer hungry. It is the damned ALT that has got me by the hair right now. Really trying to breathe, and stay in the moment. Part of me really wanted the escape today. I chose against it and stayed sober another day.

I am so grateful to all of you, and everyone I meet in the meetings. It isn't always easy, but it is always rewarding.

1. sometimes I just give myself permission to freak out
but I put a time limit on it.

I give myself permission to rage and cry and freak out for 30 minutes and then I do just that.

It's not always healthy to try and avoid feelings, so sometimes you just have to FEEL them and own them before you can take steps to let them go.

I'm sorry this is so close to home while you're so far away and with so much else on your plate right now

3. I am going to allow myself a meltdown tonight after we pick up the piano
I am going to curl up in bed and cry for awhile. I need to do it.

2. Hi Kw,

AZDem's advice is great- let yourself go nuts for a bit.

There's way too much stuff happening right now for you to
not feeling frustrated, angry and sad.

Let that crap out because it's not going anywhere else until
you do.

God Bless ya, Kitchy!

I've been thinking about you for the past day, ever since I heard
about the bridge collapsing. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to
post until now.

Hugs,
