A book that changed my life
and put an end to my drinking.

I was trapped in the alcohol pit when someone gave me this book. Honestly, I didn't have any hopes that it would work when everything else I tried failed. But I read it.

The reviews speak for themselves:
http://www.amazon.com/Easy-Way-Stop-Drinking/dp/1402736479/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-9092350-0703611?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1189834432&sr=8-1

I have had NO cravings. No ideas that a drink would solve my pain, even if temporarily.
It has been nothing like the other times I had tried over the past three years of relapse.
You don't have to turn your life over to Anything. It belongs to You.

He has few instructions. One is, don't stop until you finish the book. I had already stopped (again), so I just read it. Another is to read it only when you are sober. Easy enough.

I haven't had a drink in six months. During the past three years the longest I could hold it together was 60 days. I am so happy to be free. I wish this for everyone who is hopelessly drinking alcohol in an effort to fix things alcohol cannot fix. Read it. Please.

4. I read this too
and it made a lot of sense to me. Part of my problem with quitting was all of the unavoidable situations in which I find myself where drinking is involved. Professional events, happy hours with friends, dinners out. If I wasn't drinking, I resented the fact that I couldn't and that others could. With Alan Carr's philosophy, that's not a problem anymore. In his view, anyone who drinks is on the same slippery slope, heading towards dependence and dumping poison into their bodies. Is that something to envy? Nope. Since reading him, I've been able to deal with those situations with a different outlook and the resentment is TOTALLY gone.

Neat book. Some may be put off by the title, as we all know it's not easy no matter how you do it, but a good read and some great tips and a VERY different take on the whole thing. You may not agree with everything he says, but I guarantee you that you'll come away from the book with at least a few useful tactics and tidbits to help keep you sober.

Much love. MBD

8. Sorry I didn't see this.
I don't read this forum regularly. Yes. What you say is exactly true. I was a home drinker so social occasions weren't a trigger for me.

I'm very glad to hear it helped you too. Aren't you feeling stronger and happier?

16. Yes, much stronger and happier.
It really puts drinking in the same category as smoking for me, something that's a nasty habit that will kill you if you do it. Amazing how much that perspective helps. :)

7. No. I didn't say that.
I haven't turned my life over to anything but sobriety. The book helped me reach sobriety, because it explains alcohol addiction. There is no religious conversion. Turning your life over to something involves a religious type action.

9. I don't think that surrender
is necessarily a religious type action, but rather it is a spiritual one. There is, IMO, a difference between the two.

10. Whatever the case,
spiritual or religious, this book is not about turning yourself over to anything other than abstinence from alcohol . period. It isn't a religious OR spiritual book. It is a book about never drinking again. It is a book about refraining from, forever, putting poison alcohol into your body. And it was exactly what I needed to do that.

No one who has actually read the book would claim that it is about turning your life over to the ideas. It just does not apply. Obviously, I accepted the premises and information presented in the book, and obviously, it changed my life. But I'm not dependent on the book. It is all presented in a rational, logical manner. This is really something of a straw man because the term "turn oneself over" can be interpreted in different ways. I ACCEPTED the facts presented and that change of belief enabled me to give up the idea forever that drinking alcohol serves any constructive purpose. It used to be my cure all. It fixed everything!

As an aside: Some public figures are privy to the knowledge that large alcohol consumption among the population keeps the people quiet. They can sit in a bar and get sh*t faced while evil men take over their nation and homes. It is very useful to the Powers That Be.

14. Best of Luck with it.
I recommend it whenever I can. I'm now at about 8 months and still absolutely no desire to ever drink again. I've encountered many situations which would have formerly sent me straight to escape via alcohol, and I just don't even think for a second that is the answer. It's really pretty amazing, I guess. I cannot tell you the relief I feel from the constant monster that once lived in my head and heart. It's GONE.

17. What kind of issues?
Other addictions? Addiction is primarily physical. Secondly, we believe lies that alcohol solves problems. I don't attribute alcohol addiction to any kind of psychological issue, although those may be present in someone who is addicted. It isn't about a lack of spirituality, morals or due to a messy past. Start with the physical. I urge you to look into the book.
