My best friend's daughter (in AA) committed suicide yesterday

Hard to relate this story, but my friend's daughter just gave up. About 22 years old. Little 3-year-old daughter. Lovely young woman, but already with fucked-up health because of drinking. My friend (also in recovery) is totally beside himself, but he's not drinking. It's the worst thing a parent can possibly face. Please keep my friend in your thoughts.

Dealing with death, especially suicide, is perhaps one of that hardest things that you can do. I'm so sorry for your friend, and by proxy, yourself as well. I will keep both of you in my thoughts.

6. He will need support

There are suicide survivor groups.They usually meet every week for several months. They also usually keep the numbers small,15 or so.There is on-line support. I belong to a parents of suicide yahoo group. {pos.com} It helps to talk to people who are going through the same things you are. I read everything I get get my hands that has to do with grieving.{esp. suicide]He mostly will need an ear and a shoulder to lean on for a very long time. I sorry to say that his life will never be the same but you can survive.Wishing him peace. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.
